I have found the LCD screens can die on the mk2 (have seen a few returns where I wk). hey dudes, im wanting to get my first maschine product after christmas but im not sure what to go with. The mk3 would have fewer button clicks, and menu levels. If you have no experience I would recommend the mk2, as it would probably be cheaper. My Mk2 screens flicker and I have to tap them.a local store has got an mk2 for only $500 (AUD) and an Mk3 is around $900 full price, so im thinking ill go with the mk2, unless theres a decent boxing day sale on for the mk3 hahahFind a used studio for 3-400$ it’s a pretty good deal. All this obviously in the current version of the firmware, but with that screen size, some things like sample slicing or level metering may not be coming back.I asked Native Instruments about this and they said this focus on a more limited hardware-screen based functionality came based on feedback from users that the previous MK2 screen, though bigger, still required too much menu diving and that most users weren’t using that functionality on the hardware anyway, so it was better to make way for more controllers and a lower price, and indeed that’s what we see in the new MIKRO MK3. If a Mk2 is half price and brand new, then maybe it's a deal. MIKRO sells for $250 and MASCHINE MK3 for $600. Currently the chord names don’t appear on the software either, though you can see which notes are in a chord on the piano roll.
